Does my ORGANIC FUSIONS membership carry forward?
No. All ORGANIC FUSIONS subscriptions were terminated in January 2019. An email notification was sent informing members that Mojo Mingle would be starting afresh.

Everyone who wants to join Mojo Mingle social events needs to register through Facebook Messenger as per the instructions on the How It Works page.

What ages are your members?

We tend not to focus too much on age, because someone born 35 years ago for example may be really unhealthy and live a sedentary lifestyle, therefore their biological age might be 45!

Likewise, someone who is 50, yet exercises regularly, eats a super healthy diet and has little stress in their life, may have a biological age of someone in their late-twenties.

With that in mind, our target demographic is 25-45 however we welcome everyone to our events, especially those who are kind or consider themselves “young-at-heart”.

You are likely to find events on our calendar for ages:

  • Open age (18+)
  • 18-29
  • 24-37
  • 30-44
  • 35-52

Sometimes our events are flexi-age, many people older and younger are welcome to buy a ticket and come along.

Sometimes our events have a strict age, therefore someone older or younger is not able to attend the event.

What types of people join?

Our community is diverse.

Our clients differ by background, age, gender, sexual orientation, relationship status, physical ability, ethnicity, religious beliefs, race, socio-economic status, and education amongst other things.

But what we all seem to mostly have in common is a preference for meeting people offline to enjoy face-to-face conversations.

Most of our members have interests in travel, the outdoors, keeping physically active, eating healthy, trying new experiences, personal development, upskilling and forming genuine connections with authentic people.

Our members, in general, don’t typically go out clubbing.

For more information, please watch the video below:

Can you tell me about volunteer opportunities?

Mojo Mingle is geared towards building community. We love when people offer to help and aim to ensure there’s a fair exchange of energy. As such, we have introduced a volunteer program as of mid-2019. Volunteers can help in many ways in exchange for free, or discounted membership.

Volunteer positions can include:

  • Co-hosting events
  • Administration tasks eg registration phone calls
  • Scouting venues and completing risk assessments for events
  • Marketing eg social media posts
  • Writing blogs about connection, dating, local activities or health
  • Presenting / facilitating a workshop or talk
  • Promotions – spreading the word and inviting people to join our community

If you wish to apply to volunteer, please complete this form: Volunteer Application

Volunteer Co-host

To qualify as a co-host, you must attend at least one social event as a paid member so that Mojo Mingle staff have an opportunity to see how you interact in a social environment.

Hosting requires the following personal qualities, for example:

  • Excellent time management skills (arrive early to help set up and welcome guests)
  • Excellent social awareness (being able to read the room/group)
  • Excellent social skills / communication
  • Positive energy – mojo!
  • Inclusive nature: ensure everyone is having a good time and participating in one way or another

Question: Why do I have to attend an event first before volunteering?

Answer: We learn best by first observing and then experiencing. Once you’ve been to an event you can make an informed decision to volunteer. Also, we can see if you fit the mold for being a host.

How do I buy a ticket?

For workshops and dating talks, no membership is required.
To attend regular social events, please join as a member first.

To buy a ticket follow these steps:

  • Choose an event
  • Select a ticket type
  • Click “Book Ticket” which adds your ticket to the cart
  • Click “View cart” when you are ready to check out
  • Click “Proceed to checkout”
  • Fill in your billing details
  • Choose to pay by credit card or PayPal
  • Tick to acknowledge the Terms and Conditions
  • Click “Place Order”

The video below demonstrates how to purchase a ticket:

How many tickets do you sell per event?
The number of tickets available per event varies.

In general, our maximum group size is around 20 people.
There are exceptions to this rule such as VIP singles events and open age ‘Meet & Greet’ events.

Some events, such as dinners (for a strict age group), work best with either 6 or 12 people, due to seating arrangements.

Some venues require a minimum group size.
Some activities have a maximum group size.

The minimum number of attendees required for an event to take place is usually six.

I bought a ticket but the email hasn't come through.

Step 1. Check your spam / junk / promotions folder.

If that doesn’t work try…

Step 2. “White list” our email address (tickets@mojomingle.com.au) by adding it to your address book.

  • White-list is opposite to “black-list”

Refresh.

And if that doesn’t work try…

Step 3. Send a test email to tickets@mojomingle.com.au with subject “TEST”. In the body simply write “TEST”.

This also tells your email account that you are happy to send and receive emails to and from Mojo Mingle.

Once the email system understands that it has permission, your email should appear.

Wait a while, refresh, and check all folders.

And if that doesn’t work ….

Step 4. Reach out via Facebook Messenger. Tell us which event you booked for, and your email address, and we’ll resend the ticket, with a confirmation message that we have done so.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes. That would be great.

Your friend needs to purchase their own ticket through their own account though.

NOTE: Some workshops and dating talks don’t require a membership in order to book tickets.

For regular social events, membership is required.

Tickets are purchased on an individual basis.

How do I cancel my ticket?

Oh, what a shame! Unfortunatley, Mojo Mingle cannot offer refunds or exchanges due to a change in your personal circumstances. Please notify us ASAP if you cannot attend so we can try to fill your spot with someone who may have missed out on getting a ticket.

Please note:

  • “No shows” will not be tolerated. Failure to attend an event without prior notice (48 hours) may result in a strike (see our 3-strike policy), or suspended membership.
  • Event tickets are limited and committing a “no show” leads to disappointment for the rest of the attendees who were looking forward to meeting you. In addition, another member could have attended the event in your place.
  • Most events are subject to minimum numbers (6 people). If minimum numbers are not met the event may be cancelled or postponed, which can be disappointing for all involved.

What ages are your events for?

We tend not to focus too much on age, because someone born 35 years ago for example may be really unhealthy and live a sedentary lifestyle, therefore their biological age might be 45!

Likewise, someone who is 50, yet exercises regularly, eats a super healthy diet and has little stress in their life, may have a biological age of someone in their late-twenties.

Which event should I go to first?

Wing-person, wing-women and wing-men events are a great first step to coming out and being social with Mojo Mingle. Find yourself a wing-person (AKA side-kick) to attend future events with.

Join our Facebook group after you attend your first event, helping you keep in touch with new contacts. Use the Facebook group to organise a carpool or plan your own catch-ups outside of Mojo Mingle events.

Watch the video below for a breakdown of different personality types and the ideal first event for you:

How long does an event go for?
The official event time is usually 1.5 – 3hours. Often people stay longer to enjoy conversations with new friends.
Are your events like speed dating?
No.

Events are not structured so that you specifically meet everyone of the opposite sex. You’re free to mix and mingle at your own pace. Mojo Mingle is not a dating service. There’s no pressure to find “the one.”

Our events are not like speed dating. Our hosts put in effort to get to know you and become your friend. You can talk to everyone at the event if you wish. Meet the ladies, meet the fellas and everyone else in between.

You are welcome to talk to people for as long or as little as you like.

Events are very casual… just like going out with a bunch of friends.

The group is encouraged to “mix it up” usually at extended intervals throughout the event, because that’s what most people expect… a chance to meet (and mingle) with a bunch of new people.

Many attendees feel comfortable observing until they are ready to participate more in conversation. That’s OK.

I met someone at an event. Can you pass on my details?

Yes. We can forward your contact details via SMS.

This is a complimentary service for members, valued at $10 per SMS.

Non-members are prompted to make payment when filling out the feedback form IF requesting Mojo Mingle to forward contact details.

Feedback Form

Simply complete the feedback form within 48hours after the event.

NOTE: If the person you want to pass your details onto has specifically told us they don’t want to receive details from anyone, then we won’t be able to pass your details on. We also can’t tell you if that’s the case for privacy / confidentiality reasons. (See the Terms and Conditions for more information.)

We send out the SMS messages about 48hours after an event. Late requests miss out.

Watch the second half of this video for more information:

Do I have to wear a name tag at events?

No.

Watch the video below for more information, including the benefits of wearing a name tag.

Tips & Tricks

What types of ice-breaker activities do you do?

Ice-breaker activities help you to initiate conversations with new people.

They also help you steer clear of the boring “So, what do you do for work?” question.

To get the most out of events, it’s advised that you take part in the ice-breaker activities…

Previous ice-breakers included sharing “two truths and a lie” sharing a unique fact about oneself, which were then listed and people were to investigate which fact corresponded with which attendee.

You might also be encouraged to bring along a small personal momento to show other people and share it’s story. This also provides an excellent conversation starter: “So, what did you bring along?” and “What’s the story behind it?”

For an example of “two truths and a lie” watch this video:

What's the best way to begin conversations?

Do some research on ‘open questions‘, and commit some to memory for when you come out to social events.

How can I be successful when socialising?

Mojo Mingle has five house rules designed to help you achieve success at events. Watch the video below to learn what they are and understand how and why they will help you.

How can I share my contact details without it being weird?

Watch the video below to learn how you can pass your details onto other people at events. If you miss the opportunity to do so, or you’re too shy, keep watching to the end to find out how we help you to connect after events 😉

I gave someone my number. Why didn't they call / SMS?

It’s such a brave step to take… giving your number out to someone you’ve recently met. Sometimes though, the phonecall or SMS never appears on our phone. Watch the video below for a little bit of insight from coach Anton:

Do you offer free coaching?

This website and the Mojo Mingle social media pages contain many tips and tricks to help you succeed in life. For more in depth coaching, please show your interest via the “coaching” section of this website.

Do your events work? Are people successful?

Success means something different for everyone.

Listen to what our clients have to say about their experiences in these testimonial videos:

To hear more stories, visit our YouTube channel here.

Do you host LGBTIQA+ friendly events?
Yes. Events are inclusive.

Occasionally strict age dinner events may be specifically for straight OR gay orientations. These special events will be marked clearly on the calendar.

What's the gender distribution like at events?
We try our best to ensure numbers are close to even, though, having said that, most Mojo Mingle events aren’t exclusively for straight people or non-binary either ,as we’re a social network, not a “dating service”.
In general, the event attendees list is checked a week before the event, and if numbers are uneven, we start marketing our butt off to balance the numbers.
An even gender distribution is never guaranteed because some people are attending events to find same sex friends and some people attend simply for like-minded companionship etc
In general, more females tend to go to dinner events, and more males tend to go to outdoor activities. Knowing this then, sometimes we see the reverse happening!
I have a food allergy / special dietary requirements. Will I be catered for?

A lot of planning goes into finding venues that cater for most dietary preferences. See full event description to see if there are options. The menu is often linked for you to browse.

Please contact the venue to make enquiries if you have concerns about your dietary requirements when attending an event which involves food consumption.

Sometimes dietary requirements will need to be to pre-booked for some events. You will usually be prompted during check-out if this is the case.

It is the responsibility of each attendee to ensure they bring any necessary medications with them to the event eg insulin for diabetics / Epipen if you are at risk of anaphylaxis / inhaler for asthmatics.

You are responsible for your own health and safety. Participate only in events and activities that are suitable for your level of health.

I have a ticket for an outdoors event. What happens if the weather is poor?

In most cases the event will go ahead. It is recommended that you check the weather forecast for all events and dress appropriately. This includes being sun-smart, or bringing an umbrella, raincoat, jacket, snow-boots, swim gear, water bottle and snacks. Be prepared!

You will be notified as soon as possible via Facebook Messenger / phone-call or SMS if an event is cancelled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances. Mojo Mingle will endeavour to provide a full-refund / credit for the individual event in this case but a virtual credit note is preferred.

What is the wing-man / wing-woman Facebook group?

The wing-man and wing-woman groups (also for non-binary wing-persons) are closed Facebook groups.

You can request to join the group after attending your first Mojo Mingle event.

Here is the link to the groups: https://www.facebook.com/pg/mojomingle/groups/

Once accepted to the group, you can keep in touch through Facebook chat with other community members, past and present.

In the groups you can arrange your own meet ups, or organise to attend an Mojo Mingle event with someone so you don’t have to go alone.

You may also use the group to share stories, suggestions, photos or organise ride shares.

If the host is single, can I give them my number?

The event host(s) should be treated with respect at all times. Mojo Mingle offers a professional service.

If you feel that you connected well with the host, you can mention that in a feedback form after the event, and we will pass on your details.

It is best not to pass your details to the host while they are working at the event.

Please keep in mind that some hosts do not accept contact details from members of the Mojo Mingle community.

How was Mojo Mingle created?

Mojo Mingle was created by Sarah foremost as an alternative to the career path of nuclear medicine, and secondly to channel her energy and knowledge into something beautiful that she is passionate about.

Below are a list of qualifications and experiences that Sarah has/had which have all contributed to the creation of Mojo Mingle:

Why is there a cost for nature walks?

In order to host “Nature Walks” in Parks Victoria locations, tour operators have to meet strict criteria.

  • 1. Buy an annual licence $307.80
  • 2. Be insured (public liability) up to $20,000,000
  • 3. Be certified up to Level 1 First Aid
  • 4. Complete risk assessments for each walk
  • 5. Pay Parks Victoria for every person who attends the nature walk ($2.40 use fee per adult)
  • 6. Carry a first aid kit, and mobile phone (Telstra) in case of emergencies
  • 7. Ensure there’s enough hosts to cover the front and back of the group

Much time and energy goes into planning these walks and ensuring they are safe and meet Parks Victoria’s requirements. As such, a small $10-$15 fee is required to help cover the costs incurred in running the events.
